Ecom Authority Review (Updated 2024): Is This One The Real Deal?
In this Ecom Authority Review we talk about this ecommerce automation course by Dan Cohen, but is he legit and worth your time?
ECOMMERCE
Course Name: Ecom Authority
Instructor: Dan Cohen
Price: $50,000
Overview
Ecom Authority is an e-commerce automation program created by Dan Cohen, designed to help individuals build and scale automated e-commerce businesses.
The course focuses on leveraging overseas contractors to handle various aspects of the business, aiming to create a hands-off approach for the store owners.
There are a lot of different ecom store services out there these days. All of them pretty much pitch the same idea: "Partner with us and let us grow your store for passive income".
At first glance, Ecom Authority appears to be no different as there ad reads "E-commerce stores are more valuable than ever in 2023. Partner with us to build your automated E-commerce store.
We build the storefront, we source the products, and we scale the business." Scroll down for my full Ecom Authority Review.
Honestly the idea behind these types of services are very enticing. They essentially position you as the financial partner that simply sits back and collects some passive income while they do all the day to day work.
Of course, it doesn't actually work out as smoothly most of the time, let me explain...
You see a lot of these services are good at pitching the dream and not so much on fulfillment. The amount of stories I've heard in this space when it comes to let downs is actually insane.
Hearing people talk about dropping $50k on one of these services and never seeing a dime back or having the service provider say "well we jut didn't have enough money" like what?!?!? $50k isn't a lot of money?!?!?
The truth is that if services like these really were successful, don't you think they'd just corner the market themselves and make these massive stores on Amazon or whatever platform they wanted to use?
Exactly.
And to make matters worse they have this idea about "splitting profits" that isn't necessarily true. You're the financial partner remember?
This means that you're fronting all the cost. You're already paying them to source the products, buy the products, pay for them to market, etc. Then they tell you that they'll get EVEN more?
Sounds pretty ridiculous if you ask me. And when you break it down, it's pretty much a 75/25 split. They get 75% of the monthly, while you only get 25% and sometimes even less.
So that brings us back to Ecom Authority. Is it any different?
Well that's hard to say because the very first thing you're brought to on their landing page is a financial qualifier funnel as pictured above. Of course everyone is most likely to choose the $10k+ option each month.
After that they tell you that to achieve $10k+ per month that it will take AT LEAST $50k in upfront funds to see returns like that.
I think I lost my appetite...The very next question they ask is "Do you have at least $50k in up front capital to get started?"
If you say yes, you will be encouraged to hop on a call with their team. If you say no (like I imagine most people will as $50k is too damn much!) it's tough luck and they just send you on your way.
Overall I just don't like the idea. All of these different "passive income" ecom opportunities have the same pitch, same funnel, same everything.
There's no separation and no real difference. And if they're not all that different, I'm gonna assume that the results aren't all the different either.
No thanks, I don't wanna drop $50k and never see it again. I'm just gonna stick to building these little local websites.
What’s My Solution?
I think Ecom Authority teaches a good business model in theory. However, “theories” often don’t pan out.
For example with the ecommerce business model, you’ll find yourself struggling with main issues, like:
Always looking for new products
Shopping cart abandonment
Dealing with foreign suppliers (usually China)
Yeah, those are just a few of the things that gurus like Dan Cohen don’t really tell you about the business.
Which I totally understand, if you knew those things... you’d probably reconsider buying from them right?
Unfortunately, they know that too... which is why they don’t say anything.
See, they’re mainly just concerned with you handing over your money [I’m talking gurus at large here] and wishing you luck.
When their system doesn’t work... it’s not their fault... or their systems... it’s your fault.
It’s something you did.
That’s the reason you’re not making full time passive income...
Ugh.
I hate that they deal with people that way. Too much psychological manipulation and once you see it... you can’t unsee it. It makes you sick.
At least it makes me sick...
See I’ve tried a lot of things throughout the years myself. But I’ve also had family members try real estate from their favorite guru, they’ve tried Amazon FBA, drop shipping, running an agency, even credit card programs.
It has never ended well.
You see, I learned that it is almost impossible to do any one of these “side hustles” full time unless you have a lot of money or have come from a rich family.
Gurus will tell you otherwise, but we all know why that is...
So in my online journey I was going to make sure that whatever it was I did was 1: viable and 2: only takes an hour or two after work to work on.
I didn’t want to get stuck in the constant hustle and burn my life away trying to chase after the guru version of the hamster wheel.
Screw that!
I want to be able to work hard, have a job (which isn’t as bad as gurus say), and have some side income.
I’m not greedy.
I’m not looking to get super rich.
Just something honest and simple.
I found that to be something called Local Lead Generation.
No ads, No crazy tech skills, and no real sales skills either.
All you do is build a little website like this:
Rank it to the top of Google like this:
And call up a guy/gal in town who can do the work.
After they’ve made some money, you just ask for a finders fee (super common in the contracting space) and boom... you’ve created a nice dependable side income.
Have I known people who do this full time with hundreds of these sites?
Sure... but they’re pretty stressed out!
People with 5-10 of these though?
Super relaxed from what I’ve experienced myself and seen from others.
And we’re after the least amount of stress possible right?
That’s what I’m thinking...
Full time secure job, 401k or IRA retirement account, and side hustle income leads to a pretty cushy life.
Gurus won’t tell you that because they want to pull on your greed strings.
I’m sick of the industry though, and just want to be straight with you.
There will be some hard work involved. Not everything will be peachy from the onset. But it will be worth while.
